Aregbesola Inaugurates Kwara ADC Secretariat In Ilorin, Says Governors Joining APC Are ‘Unpopular’, ‘Castoff’ People

Governors, who are new members of APC, are unpopular in their states and are already considered as castoff people by residents of their respective states, ADC National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, has submitted.

The governors in question, the former Osun State governor added, are also enemies of citizens of their states.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said this while talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com after presiding over the official launch ceremony of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State and the inauguration of the state secretariat of the party in the Fate area of Ilorin on Saturday.

He also asserted that ADC will become the ruling party at the federal level in 2027 while accusing APC of intimidating and harassing members of the party across the country and calling this ‘a sign of lack of confidence’.

‘If APC is confident of its strength , it won’t be so jittery, it won’t be so hyped up as to begin to haunt and hound opposition members everywhere in the country, how do we describe what APC is doing to us all over Nigeria?  They are harassing and intimidating our members not just the leaders, is it Lagos, Kebbi or Kaduna?, it is everywhere, if indeed they are confident of the strength that they are showcasing one would expect that they will be so calm , no, I am concerned that the reverse  is the case and what does that tell you?

The party that will harvest the unpopularity, disenchantment and has the interest of Nigerian people is ADC, go and write it down, regardless of the grandstanding, this party by the Grace of God shall take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states , the governors that are  today joining APC are the enemies of the people and the people know that they are their enemies,  they are agents with due respect if I can use that word, it is good riddance to bad rubbish’ Aregbesola, a former Minister for Interior, added

Former Sports minister, who is the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi also spoke in the same vein, submitting that governors who are joining APC, are hated by their people.

He also asserted that Nigerians have a favourable opinion of ADC .

‘Our chances are very bright and as you can see, I mean will you believe that this is just a party that was unveiled only three months ago, so, this is an indication that the people have embraced our party and it’s very simple like I had said repeatedly, for the people, the question is no longer whether they want to vote for the ruling party or not. That question is already settled, they don’t want the APC to continue, the question is whether we will be able to convince them that we will represent the alternative and that is what we are going to do in the coming days.

Kwara State is ready for ADC, Nigeria is ready for ADC, so, we are not bothered about governors defecting to the ruling party, of course most of these governors are hated by their people any way.

So, it’s going to be Nigerians versus the APC, so, we are not worried at all.

We are happy with the progress that our party is making’ he added.

Also speaking, the immediate past governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed called the inauguration of the party in the state ‘birth of a new dawn’ while adding that things will be done differently.

‘The significance is very clear, it shows that the party has been perfected. It is to demonstrate and show that it is the birth of a new dawn in Kwara and between you and me, this is the beginning of a new direction in our political experience.

Kwara is going to be different, we are poised to entrench a new party that will drive the collective interests of kwarans to reflect their collective understanding of what they want and I want to assure you that ADC has come to stay and it has come to demonstrate itself as the main party in this state’ he said.

Dr Abubakar Amuda Kanike ,who at different times served as Commissioner for Sports, and representative of Ilorin East/Ilorin South in the House of Representatives, also noted that he has joined other selfless Kwarans  to bring a party that is truly democratic to the State of Harmony.

The party, he added, is being promoted by very selfless people who would be showing deep-seated dedication to the wellbeing of Kwarans .

He also noted that the people of the state believe in leaders of the party because they know that ‘we can truly protect their interest’.

In an interview with Team@orientactualmags.com, Hon Zakari Mohammed, a former commissioner, and a two-term member of the House of Representatives, said APC will be voted out of power in 2027 while noting that ADC is focusing attention on the grassroots people and not the noisemakers.

‘It is a good development that we have brought life to our state secretariat officially and we are happy that it has also witnessed continued influx of people to the party like the immediate past state PDP chairman and a member of his exco, it is a right step in the right direction, ADC is focusing on people in the grassroots and not the noisemakers.

In the 2027 General Election, Kwarans and other Nigerians will support a party that will run the affairs of the country with conscience and patriotism for the good of the ordinary Nigerians.

APC tax regime and their collaborators, the PDP that has become a parastatal under APC, will be shown the exit door in 2027.

I also want to note that politics is not about big names but rather big ideas ,Kwarans and other Nigerians are wiser now’ he said.
