
Following the decision of lecturers at public universities in the country to return to class and the subsequent announcements by the universities of their readiness to welcome back their students, Kwara state government has announced fare-free travel for indigenes of the state, who are students at public universities.
It will be recalled that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU who had stayed away from class since February 14, after accusing the federal government of failing to meet some of their demands had ended the strike on October 15.
‘As a demonstration of its favourable disposition to the plight of students, the Kwara State Government under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s leadership has offered fare- free travel to all interested Students at Tertiary Institutions in the Northern axis of the country’ the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Alabi Afees Abolore submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the ministry’s spokesperson, Mansurat Amuda-Kannike on Tuesday.

Dr. Abolore added that the Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration would have all Kwara State students at tertiary institutions in the country enjoying this ‘dividends of democracy’ .
He explained that concerned Students travelling to the North are expected to appear for a brief documentation on their departure date at the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin on Saturday 29th October, 2022 at 6:30 am .
The Commissioner also disclosed that the Ministry will soon begin disbursement of bursary to students ‘when online porter registration of would-be beneficiaries is opened’.
