Atiku’s 78th Birthday: Sparse Wishes, Greetings ‘Recorded’ As President Tinubu Stays Off

An influential and prominent politician in the country, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, became another year older on Monday, November 25, 2024. He turned 78.
It was however a repeat of what happened last year as there was no happy birthday message from the presidency until there was a ‘modification’ a day after his birthday. Interestingly, while marking his 76th birthday on November 25, 2022, Atiku had received a happy birthday message from President Bola Tinubu.
‘Congratulations to the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on his 76th birthday. I wish him well as he marks his birthday’ Tinubu, who was then the APC presidential candidate, had submitted in an X.com post.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu eventually won the presidential election and took office on May 29,2023.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a veteran contestant, had launched his first presidential bid in 1993 when he sought for the SDP presidential nomination, but late Chief MKO Abiola eventually got nominated by the party.
He also stood as Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate in the 2007 presidential election and later sought for the PDP presidential nomination in 2011.
The Waziri Adamawa also sought for the APC presidential nomination in 2015 and later stood as PDP candidate in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections respectively.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar served as Vice President between 1999 and 2007.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that though, no statement was issued to congratulate him on his birthday by the presidency or anyone among the former Vice Presidents or ex-president on Monday, some among the nation’s political figures however wished Atiku a happy birthday.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally extended his best wishes to the former Vice President on Tuesday.
The president’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr Sunday Dare in a statement, he issued in Abuja recalled many special moments Asiwaju Tinubu had shared with the Wazirin Adamawa as founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), united in the mission to build a better future for Nigerians, as well as their engagement as political opponents in the last presidential election.
President Tinubu also acknowledged Atiku’s commitment to public service and philanthropy, and asked Almighty Allah to continue to grant him health and happiness in the years ahead..
Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki congratulated Atiku on his 78th birthday on Monday while describing him as a compassionate leader committed to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
