Attention Returns To Rumoured ‘Peace Terms’ As Akire Of Ikire Reportedly Joins Ancestors
The Akire of Ikire ,Irewole local government, Osun State, Oba Olatunde Falabi has reportedly joined his ancestors.
He was said to have left the planet earth on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Oba Olatunde Falabi Lanbeloye III, a pharmacist, an entrepreneur and a farmer, was also a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and he had one of the branches of the church located at his palace.
The Ikire monarch, who was born on January 20, 1935, a former Commercial Manager, ROCHE (Nig.) Limited Lagos and a Fellow of The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), was the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Oba Falabi Foundation (NGO), and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oba Falabi (Nig.) Ltd.
He ascended the throne on May 8, 1993, and celebrated his 90th birthday and 30th coronation anniversary in January last year.
Oba Olatunde Falabi’s reign was marked by a prolonged legal battle which had Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju of Aketula ruling house faulting the decision to appoint him as Oba Oseni Oyegunle’s successor while also alleging that it was a violation of the 1958 Akire Chieftaincy Declaration.
Oba Oseni Oyegunle had passed away on August 5, 1987, which made the Ikire throne become vacant.
The issue resurfaced on June 30, 2020, with the state high court asking Oba Olatunde Falabi to vacate the throne.
He however remained occupant of the throne until his passing on Saturday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Oba Olatunde Falabi’s passing has returned attention to the unofficial ‘peace terms’ that was reportedly reached during the Gboyega Oyetola administration.
