Awo Throne: Oyetola, Not Gov Adeleke, Appointed, Presented Staff Of Office To Taiwo Adegboye-Osun Govt

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has denied plans to issue and present staff of office to Taiwo Adegboye, as Alawo of Awo, Egbedore local government , describing media reports claiming that his administration is taking steps that are contrary to the dictate of rule of law as untrue.
The governor’s Special Adviser, Mr Olawale Rasheed in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com clarified that Taiwo Adegboye was installed as Alawo of Awo in September 2021, and he had subsequently had the staff of office presented to him by the Gboyega Oyetola administration.
While restating the commitment of the current administration in the state to the rule of law, Mr Olawale Rasheed added that the state government will not do anything to impugn judicial decisions or tamper with peace and stability of any community in the state on Governor Adeleke’s watch.
‘We are constrained to inform the public that insinuations of plans by the Adeleke administration to issue fresh staff of office in respect of the Awo throne are untrue. The crisis that has to do with the Awo throne preceded the Governor Adeleke administration as Taiwo Adegboye, who is at the centre of the issue, was installed as Alawo several months before his (Adeleke) assumption of office.
It is worth noting that he (Taiwo Adegboye) was issued staff of office by the previous administration, and so, it is unfounded to say that Adeleke is planning to issue a staff of office that has already been issued.
As a government committed to fairness and rule of law, we recognize the right of Taiwo Adegboye to exhaust legal option on the Obaship tussle, which is currently before the Supreme Court.
We must also note that Taiwo Adegboye has sought a stay of execution on the judgment of the Appeal Court, hence, the decision taken by government to maintain status quo pending the full determination of the litigation.
Available information is that Taiwo Adegboye is celebrating anniversary of his installation and not a fresh installation ceremony or presentation of new staff of office as erroneously being speculated’ he said.
While urging the public, especially the people of Awo to disregard ‘concoctions and deliberate misinformation on the Awo Obaship’, Mr Olawale Rasheed also asserted that Governor Adeleke is committed to the path of legality and rule of law.
‘Governor Adeleke will not do anything to distort traditions and well-established procedures on kingship matters, and we want to urge the public to disregard any information contrary to this commitment’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com
