Banditry: Kebbi Governor Promises To Sign Death Warrants Of Convicted Abettors Within 24 Hours

Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, has promised that within 24 hours after the delivery of judgment, he would sign the death warrant of anyone found to have aided the bandits, tried and convicted.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Dr Nasir Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the governor said this on Saturday during his condolence visit to Zogirma village, Bunza Local Government, following the recent armed robbery incident that claimed the lives of three policemen.

Dr. Idris decried the activities of abettors, describing them as ‘bad eggs’ who are sabotaging national security for ‘personal gain’.

 ‘I will not hesitate to sign the death warrant of any convicted abettor within 24 hours. I am not in support of life imprisonment for such individuals. 

They should face capital punishment because they don’t deserve to live among us’ he said.

The governor condemned the killing of the brave policemen who were protecting law-abiding citizens while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking a law that prescribes the death penalty for abettors.

While praying for the repose of the souls of the fallen officers, Dr. Idris assured residents of the state of improved security measures, including the deployment of more security personnel to the affected area and other parts of the state.

 ‘This is a government of the people. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure our citizens sleep with their two eyes closed. Security remains our top priority, and we will not treat it with levity’ he added.

Chairman of Bunza Local Government, Hon. Zayyanu Shehu, commended the governor’s unwavering support for the people, particularly the swift donation of N50 million and assorted food items to victims of recent bandit attacks.

He assured that only genuine victims would benefit from the governor’s intervention.
