Barau Presents N7m Cheque To Former LG Chairman Who Was Reportedly Denied ‘Severance Pay’ By Kano Govt
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin has come to the rescue of Fa’izu Alfindiki, a one-time Chairman of Kano Municipal Local Government, by making N7 million cheque available to him.
Alfindiki, who is a member of APC, had served as chairman of Kano Municipal local government and he is one of the people who have persistently criticized the current administration in the state headed by Governor Abba Yusuf.
The ruling party in the state is NNPP.
A few days ago, the Kano State Government announced the decision to clear outstanding payments to 1,371 former LG officials amounting to N15.7 billion and Alfindiki had later accused the Kano State Government of withholding his entitlement citing his political stance.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Senator Jibrin Barau has however disclosed in a Facebook post that N7 million cheque was presented to Alfindiki during a meeting held in his office at the National Assembly complex, Abuja on Tuesday.
‘Denying any citizen what is lawfully due to him because of political differences is wrong and dangerous for democracy’ Barau said.
Politicians who practice principled and issue-based politics, like Alfindiki are also according to him critical to the growth and sustainability of democracy.
‘Such individuals are the pillars of democracy. Without them, democratic governance cannot thrive. They deserve to be supported and encouraged at all times’ he added.
Speaking after receiving the 7 million naira cheque, Alfindiki thanked Senator Barau for what he described as a show of solidarity.
‘I sincerely thank the Deputy President of the Senate for this support. It has reinforced my belief that the APC is a party worth standing with and sacrificing for.
Today, that confidence has been vindicated. The Deputy President of the Senate stood firmly with me, and I am deeply grateful’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
