Bayelsa Deputy Governor Dies After Collapsing In Office…PDP Offers Condolences

The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, is dead.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned that he collapsed in his office at the Government House, Yenagoa on Thursday and was rushed to the hospital but efforts to save his life however proved abortive.

His party, the PDP has offered its condolences.

National Publicity Secretary of the faction led by Tanimu Turaki, Comrade Ini Ememobong in a statement issued on Thursday night noted that the party received the news of Ewhrudjakpo’s death with ‘deep shock’ while also describing him as ‘a trusted, faithful party man’.

‘The National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and indeed the entire membership of our great party, especially our faithful members in Bayelsa State, are in profound grief.

He was an honest and consistent politician who believed in and practiced politics with principle. He was a person of conviction, not convenience; a leader whose life was anchored on belief, integrity, and strength of character. He held firmly to these virtues until his final moments.

 We are deeply saddened by the passing of this hero of political integrity, and we pray that God grants his soul eternal rest.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State on this painful and irreparable loss’ the statement added.

The late Ewhrudjakpo, who was born on September 5, 1965, and Governor Duoye Diri were federal lawmakers until they both left the senate to become the Chief Executive and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State in 2020.
