Benue Workers Receive ‘Monthly Salary’ For The First Time In 7 Months

Civil servants in Benue state began to receive their ‘monthly salary’ on Sunday, and this is coming after they had been denied such an opportunity for seven straight months.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Terungwa Igbe has also confirmed that the workers have been paid one month salary.

It was however gathered that a few others including teachers and pensioners  are waiting with bated breath.

Mr. Hyacinth Alia was sworn in as new Chief Executive of the state last month.

 ‘Local government pensioners of primary school board have started receiving alert but that is not verified news. As for Benue state pensioners which I’m the chairman, we have not started receiving any alert; we are having our exco meeting now, so if something like that has happened I would have known.

We’re hoping that any moment from now, we will get our alerts; I hear that the delay is because they want to get rid of ghost pensioners and other irregularities as our voucher is being prepared.

I also heard that the governor wants to pay us more than three months, so they are preparing vouchers.
