American business magnate, and philanthropist, Mr. William Henry Gates and a top businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote have been commended for their commitment to eradicating polio and for providing necessary supports in respect of Nigeria’s polio eradication efforts.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that this was done during the meeting held in Abuja on Thursday which was presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The meeting had Mr Bill Gates, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, state governors including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq , Governor Alex Otti, Governor Abdulahi Sule and Governor Babagana Zulum in attendance.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has also tweeted about the meeting in question.
‘Today, my colleagues and I attended a meeting convened by the Vice President His Excellency Kashim Shettima in honour of Mr. Bill Gates and Alhaji Aliko Dangote at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting served as an avenue to deepen the partnership that the NGF, and the country at large, has cultivated over the years with the Gates and Dangote Foundations.
On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), I commended Mr. Gates and Alhaji Dangote’s exemplary commitments to the development of Nigeria, especially in relation to health, agriculture, and human capital development.
The NGF’s partnership with the two Foundations has been very impactful. This is especially true of the Polio Eradication Initiative as contained in the Abuja Commitment to Polio Eradication in Nigeria.
A fruit of that partnership was the Immunization Leadership Challenge that actively engaged the Governors in the polio eradication campaign. Together with the efforts of key partners like the Rotary International, UN agencies and bilateral and multilateral bodies, the active involvement of the Governors led to the certification of Nigeria as being WILD polio-free by the World Health Organization in 2020.
We were truly honoured by the presence and participation of our guests. It signified their unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria.’ he wrote-Team@orientactualmags.com
