Blue Economy: Danish Govt  Delegation Visits Oyetola In Abuja, Restates Commitment To Strengthening Bilateral Ties With Nigeria

The Danish government on Tuesday restated its commitment to further strengthening collaboration and fostering bilateral ties with the Nigerian government for socioeconomic growth and development.

The Danish government  described this  as part of efforts to collectively harness the embedded potential and unlock the prospects in the marine sector of the two partnering nations.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO),  has also stated  readiness to partner with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy with regard to programmes and project implementation.

Denmark is one of the biggest port operators in the world.

Recall that on October 6, 2023, the Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria, H.E Sune Krogstrup,  had met with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola   to explore areas of partnership and how to leverage the immense opportunities in the maritime sector of the two nations.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com quoted the Blue Economy Minister to have submitted that the follow-up visit made by the Ambassador will certainly help to cement the prior partnership moves.

Ambassador Krogstrup, who was accompanied by other top Danish government officials , explained that the follow-up visit was as a result of the strong desire of his country to strengthen bilateral ties with Nigeria and establish partnerships that will promote the maritime sectors of the two countries.

Responding, Oyetola described the partnership move as a welcome development and one, capable of advancing the cause of the ministry and help in actualizing its mandate.

‘I welcome this partnership with the Danish government and look forward to the prospects of the collaboration’ Oyetola noted.

He specifically noted that Nigeria would require support with respect to  ship building, ship repair, and fishing trollers, among others.

A delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) also visited the minister in his office in Abuja on Tuesday.

Led by the organization’s Representative to ECOWAS and Regional Director, Nigeria Regional Office Hub, Ambassador Jean Bakole, UNIDO expressed  readiness to support the Minister in the implementation of the programmes and projects of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The team also spoke on the Programme for Country Partnership, PCP.

Responding, Oyetola expressed the ministry’s readiness to partner UNIDO to enhance its capacity for efficiency, proficiency, effectiveness and greater productivity.

‘Our Ministry will partner UNIDO to develop the industry policy that will help in achieving sustainable growth in the sector’ Oyetola added-Team@orientactualmags.com
