Bode Itapa: Osun Police Command Should Stop Serving As A Tool For APC-ISP

A group, the Ijesa South Patriots (ISP) has  kicked against  the alleged use of the police by  some politicians in Osun state to fight their political battles.

The ISP has accused the police of seeking to portray a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Sanya Omirin in a bad light .

The group in a statement issued in Ilesha and made available to Team@orientactualmags. com by its Chairman, Hon Oladapo Tunde cited the prepared text read out by the spokesperson for the state police command during the news conference held at the state police headquarters.

ISP alleged that members of the leading opposition party in the state, the APC, were already in possession of the prepared text in question before it was made public.

‘Our attention has been drawn to the purported  statements about some suspects  who were shown to the public by the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo on Friday. What we consider the absurd part of the issue is the fact that the prepared text was similar to what the APC has been circulating on social Media since Thursday. 

We were privy to chats on a WhatsApp group where it was resolved that Hon Sanya Omirin should be targeted. We know it will interest people to know that Hon Sanya Omirin’s name was not mentioned by any of the suspects in connection with the crimes they have committed.

As a matter of fact ,Olabode Owoeye popularly called Bode Itaapa never mentioned Hon Omirin’s name as his sponsor. Why are the Police so keen on implicating the member of the House of Representatives?

We however consider it appropriate to put the record straight, hence the need to seek answers to some questions. 

First, going by the piece read out by the Osun Police Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the Police Command in its findings, concluded that the alleged crime committed by the suspects was fueled by a confraternity war involving rival groups. It is then pertinent to ask, is Hon Sanya Omirin a member of one of the cult groups involved in the confraternity war? The answer is NO!

Secondly, why are the APC members in the state having the possession of the speech that would be read out by the police on the day suspects that they wish would implicate a PDP chieftain, about 2 days before the event would eventually take place? When did APC members in Osun become part of the Police structure in the state to the point that they would have access to  the speech that would be read at the suspects parade by the Force?

Thirdly, we want to put some events of the past on record: It is public knowledge that Hon Omirin was attacked during the 2022 gubernatorial election, and he escaped death by the whisker by some hoodlums.

The same set of hoodlums also attempted to kill Omirin during the 2023 elections. In fact, his police escort was shot in the incident. Omirin can’t be a sponsor of these hoodlums and they would be attacking him. 

It is pertinent to ask what the Osun APC nay Ijesa South APC wants from Omirin? The APC knows as a matter of fact that with Hon. Sanya Omirin as a free citizen, they can never win Ijesha South. 

It should be noted that  the police are not an appendage of APC and in-as-much-as, we will encourage security agents to do their jobs, we insist that they must do that with uttermost professionalism. The real sponsors of hoodlums in Ijesa South should be identified and exposed.

We want to appeal to the President and Commander- in -Chief of the Armed Forces, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCON to prevail on the Inspector General of Police, to intervene and instruct  the  Osun state Police Command to leave Hon Sanya Omirin alone, and stop acting the script of Osun APC. 

We also want to urge the APC to accept defeat in 2022 and 2023 elections and move on, because no amount of emotional blackmail will stop the towering political status of Hon Sanya Omirin, who has grown from being a Council Secretary to where God and the people of Ijesha South have placed him’ the statement added- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
