Bolt Stops Fake Orders On Its App To End Rivalry Between Nigerians And South Africans…Rejects Inter-Country Ride Requests

The enactment of dramatic and funny scenes at different locations in Nigeria and South Africa sequel to the rivalry between social media users in the two countries will come to an end following the measures taken by Bolt, a technology ride-hailing firm.

Recall that Nigerian and South African citizens had ordered  e-hailing drivers from opposing countries in the comfort of their homes only to later make themselves unavailable since they are in faraway places.

The distance between  Nigeria  and South Africa is 4,644 kilometers while the  air travel distance is equal to 2,886 miles.

While South Africans reportedly stirred up a hornet’s nest  by allegedly ordering Bolt and Uber drivers in Nigeria and later cancelling the orders , Nigerians also made it a case of tit for tat.

Some had also reportedly told the drivers to stop off to buy food for them at eateries only for the drivers in question to later discover that they had no one waiting for them!

Bolt had since  blocked social media  accounts used in making the orders in question while also restricting inter-country ride requests.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  the Country Manager of Nigeria at Bolt, Yahaya Mohammed, who disclosed the measures taken by the company in a statement he issued on Thursday, added that steps have also been taken to enhance security measures.

‘Bolt is aware of the fake ride request incidents between some individuals in Nigeria and South Africa. We have successfully taken measures to resolve the issue of fake ride requests affecting our driver-partners, particularly those operating in Nigeria and South Africa. The integrity and safety of our platform, both for driver-partners and riders, is our utmost priority. Following a thorough investigation and the implementation of enhanced security measures, we have addressed this issue swiftly by restricting inter-country ride requests.

Additionally, those responsible for this malicious activity have been identified and held accountable by blocking them from the Bolt app.

We understand the impact this situation has had on our driver-partners in Nigeria and South Africa. We are committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, and secure experience for all members of our community.

We thank our driver-partners for their patience and professionalism during this time and remain dedicated to supporting them in every possible way’ the statement added–Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
