Buhari Wasn’t ‘In Control’ As President .. NASS Members Singing ‘On Your Mandate We Shall Stand’ Not ‘Unseemly’ -Senator Ali Ndume

The Senate Chief Whip,  Senator Ali Ndume, submitted on Friday that former President Muhammadu Buhari promoted ‘kleptocracy’  during his presidency adding that he was not really in charge and had also failed to ‘supervise’ his appointees..

He noted that unlike the immediate past president, the current president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu  has however shown that he is really in charge and would avoid the mistakes made by Buhari.

‘I believe in President Tinubu, I think he can change things. The President here is in charge, that’s one thing with him.

Sometimes people even think Tinubu is too authoritative. No, he takes charge; unlike our former President who will just give you an assignment and will not  monitor things . That’s where the problem is, and he knows that. That was the mistake President Buhari made.

He (Buhari) ended up confessing these days that he had more kleptocrats in his government. I said it before, and now he admitted that there were some kinds of people that took over power to themselves. But in  the Tinubu government, you can’t do that’ the senator submitted.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Ndume, who said this while appearing on Seun Okinbaloye’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Channels Television on Friday,  has also  given his take on the development that was recorded on the floor of the senate on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu had proposed N27.5 trillion  for the fiscal year  2024, before the joint session of the senate and house of representatives.

The federal lawmakers had chorused  ‘On your mandate we shall stand’ as the president stood up to deliver his budget speech, a song that has over the years been used as a declaration of loyalty to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by his supporters and loyalists in Lagos state and other states that were later controlled by the ACN .  Tinubu was at different times a member of AD, ACN, AC and APC.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu  was the governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007.

The singing of ‘on your mandate we shall stand’ had subsequently exposed the National Assembly to criticism especially from the netizens.

Ndume , who represents Borno South, has however submitted that the federal lawmakers have done nothing wrong or unseemly.

‘It is not a crime. Honestly, it is not a big deal. In this country, we pick on trivial things.

When a president walks in, there are times that some members take advantage of that situation to even challenge the president directly.

When Buhari came some time back, this same thing was done – ‘Sai Baba’ (was chanted). So why should Tinubu’s case be a big deal?  He asked-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
