Bullying Allegations: Dominic Raab Resigns As UK Deputy Prime Minister
‘I called for the inquiry and undertook to resign if it made any finding of bullying whatsoever. I believe it is important to keep my word’ , Dominic Raab submitted in a letter addressed to the UK Prime Minister , Richi Sunak on Friday .
He was until his decision to call it quit on Friday the UK Deputy Prime Minister.
An investigation into Raab’s behaviour had taken evidence from multiple government officials about complaints of bullying at three different departments.
Raab, who was also justice minister, had requested the investigation in November following formal complaints about his behaviour by government officials.
The former UK Deputy Prime Minister noted that he felt ‘duty bound’ to accept the outcome of the inquiry but also staunchly defended his conduct.
Raab, son of a Czech-born Jewish refugee who fled the Nazis in 1938, studied law at Oxford University.
He had before becoming a lawyer worked on project finance, international litigation and competition law. Raab became a member of parliament in 2010 and he has had several senior ministerial jobs.
It will be recalled that Gavin Williamson , a former member of Sunak’s cabinet, had also quit in November after bullying allegations.
Sunak himself is facing his own investigation by parliament’s standards watchdog into his behaviour , they are seeking to know if he had properly declared his wife’s shareholding in a childcare company which stands to benefit from new government policy or not- -Team@orientactualmags.com
