Adamawa State Government has continued to do the needful and take necessary measures to contain the outbreak of a flesh eating ulcer in the state, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwami, has submitted.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the commissioner , who disclosed the outbreak of the disease in the state on Tuesday evening, added that it has already claimed 8 lives in Malabu, Fufore Local Government.
He added that samples from affected patients have already been collected and sent to the National Reference Laboratory for further testing and confirmation of the buruli ulcer cases.
The commissioner added that while awaiting the laboratory results, health officials have placed Malabu on close monitoring to prevent the disease from spreading to other parts of the state.
‘Some of the surviving patients are currently receiving specialized medical attention at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola’ the commissioner said.
The state government is according to him collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organisation (WHO), and other development partners in taking proactive steps to contain the situation.
‘Measures include immediate deployment of emergency response teams, awareness campaigns, and provision of medical supplies to the affected community’ he said.
