Chief of Army Staff Inaugurates Road Project In Kaoje ,Urges Kebbi Traditional Rulers To Support Anti- Banditry Efforts

Traditional rulers in Kebbi state have been urged to cooperate with the Army in its efforts to end banditry in the state and the country as a whole.
Governor Atiku Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media Mr Yahaya Sarki in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Faruk Yahaya said this during his visit to the Sarkin Bargun Kaoje, Alhaji Mustapha Usman Adamu at his palace on Tuesday.
He added that because of the strategic position of a traditional ruler in any community, traditional rulers must not be left out in the security architecture of their domains.

The Army Chief urged traditional rulers and residents of all communities in Kebbi state to furnish the military with useful information that will help the security agencies in their anti- banditry efforts in the state.
Traditional rulers according to him have an important role to play in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
‘There are important information at the disposal of traditional rulers that may help the military in their constitutional duties to improve security situation in the various communities of the state’ he said.
Faruk further noted that as leaders of their communities , traditional rulers have a duty to be on the lookout and report any suspicious movements or strange activities of criminal elements to security agents in order that people in their domains can live in peace.
The Chief of Army Staff later inaugurated the one kilometer road constructed by the Nigerian Army in honour of its procurement Director, Major General Nasiru Usman Muktar ,who is from Kebbi state .
He said the road was constructed to tackle basic amenities challenges in the community including lack of potable water and electricity . He said it will also enhance commercial activities in the area.
Giving his speech, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said it was heart -warming to have military officers impacting the lives of Kaoje residents.
He said his administration would continue to collaborate with the military in its effort to tackle insecurity .
‘This administration will make sure it provides the military with whatever is needed to fight insecurity in Kebbi State’ he said.
The governor ,who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri, enjoined the community to reciprocate the gesture of goodwill by ensuring that the road is maintained and properly utilized.
Earlier the District Head of Kaoje, Alhaji Usman Adamu had called on the army to establish a military base in the area to check excesses of the bandits that had been moving into the state from Niger state, Niger Republic and Benin republic through a large forest in the area.
‘This is the second time we are receiving a high profile figure from the military in Kaoje. The first time was in 1999 when retired General Ibrahim Babangida came to inaugurate Tunga bridge/ Kaoje road. Your visit is the second one’ he said.
He commended the army for the road project saying it would make the daily activities of his people more convenient and easier.
