Children Under 14 Stopped From Owing Social Media Accounts In Florida… Gov DeSantis Calls It ‘Landmark Legislation’

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, United States of America, has signed into law a legislation that stops young children who are under the age of 14 from owing social media accounts .
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the new bill that was signed into law on Monday also mandates those between the ages of 14 and 15 to secure parental consent before accessing social media accounts.
The new law, called ‘House Bill 3’ , compels social media companies to scrap existing accounts for children and permits parents to request that the ones belonging to their children should be terminated.
‘Social media harms children in a variety of ways . HB 3 gives parents a greater ability to protect their children. Thank you to (Florida House) Speaker (Paul) Renner for delivering this landmark legislation’ Governor De Santos submitted in a statement he issued on Monday.
The new law takes effect from January 1, 2025.
‘It used to be, ‘Well, if they’re out somewhere, maybe they’re not supervised, maybe some predator can strike’ DeSantis submitted during the bill signing ceremony.
‘The internet has become a dark alley for our children where predators target them and dangerous social media leads to higher rates of depression, self-harm, and even suicide’ Renner, a Republican, had also said in a statement.
Companies including Meta, owner of Facebook and Instagram, have publicly opposed the Florida legislation-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
