Claudia Sheinbaum Takes Oath Of Office In Mexico City…She Is Mexico’s 1st Female President

Claudia Sheinbaum emerged as Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s successor on Tuesday after getting sworn in as new president of Mexico .
62-year-old Claudia Sheinbaum, a climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, will serve a six-year term, and barring unforeseen circumstances, she will remain in office until 2030.
Article 83 of the Mexican constitution contains an important provision called ‘sexenio’ which limits the president to a single 6-year term.
‘Now is the time of transformation, now is the time of women’ Claudia Sheinbaum declared on Tuesday.
Claudia has under her belt, a unique achievement-she is the first female president of Mexico.
All her 65 predecessors are men and the new president whose party controls the majority in the senate and the lower house, will deliver her first budget speech next month.
People chorused ‘Long live Claudia! Long live Mexico!’ as she took the oath of office and received the presidential sash in Congress on Tuesday, an event that was attended by foreign dignitaries including First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden.

Mexico, a country that gained independence from Spain in 1821, is a neighbor of the United States of America, and presidential election will hold in the God’s own country on November 5,2024.
