Climate Change : Canada High Commissioner Pledges Support For Osun, Praises Gov Adeleke’s ‘Impressive’ Efforts To Improve Mining Sector
High Commissioner to Nigeria, James Christoff has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state for his efforts to improve the mining sector in the state submitting that ‘he is impressed with the focus and performance of the current administration in the state’.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Mr. Olawale Rasheed noted that the High Commissioner, who is currently visiting historic and tourist centres in the state of the living spring , said this during his visit to the Government Secretariat, Osogbo on Tuesday .
He has also said steps would be taken to come up with a framework for a mutually beneficial relationship between Canada Government and Osun state.
Chirstoff ,who talked about ways Canada can support Osun in respect of Culture, Tourism, Global Investment and mining, also added that Osun state government should be commended for its efforts with regard to Climate Change, adding that other states in the country are looking forward to emulating Osun in this regard.
‘I’m impressed with the focus of the governor, and everybody who is working with him, the Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government and those who have made presentations earlier .
There is a lot of talents here, and I think it is high time investors started looking at coming down to Nigeria and Osun to see for themselves all I have seen since I got here yesterday.
In the aspects of culture, tourism, global investment and mining there is so much that we are doing in Canada and we can create an opportunity for partnership, like it has been said in all the presentations.
In the aspect of mining, Governor Adeleke should be commended for the improvements made on mining regulations and also in the mining sector of the state and also in Climate Change, thank you for taking the lead, I am sure all the other states are looking at taking the same steps’ he said.
The Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, who received Chirstoff on behalf of Governor Adeleke, urged the High Commissioner and his team to ensure that the relationship that has had its foundation laid is not left to rotten away and should be strengthened through continued communication.
He added that the door of Osun state government is open to global investors for collaborations and partnerships, promising that a fair and level-playing field as well as adequate security will be provided.
‘Please I want to urge the High Commissioner and his team to ensure that this relationship that we are laying its foundation today doesn’t just end with this visit but to ensure that we strengthen it by communicating regularly such that results are seen in terms of partnership and collaboration between the Osun state government and the Canadian Government.
Being a new administration, the door of Osun state is open to foreign and global investors and I can assure you that a fair and level- playing field as well as adequate security will be provided to all Investors’ he said.
