Communal Violence: Osun Govt Imposes Nighttime Curfew On 2 LGs

Residents of Ifon and Ilobu and other towns and villages in   Irepodun and Orolu local governments, Osun state, were on Wednesday told to stay in their houses from 6pm to 6am following resurgence of communal conflict involving the two local governments in question especially Ifon and Ilobu.

The state government had taken a similar measure last month.

The state government said the decision to order that the curfew should continue was made so that law and order can be maintained in the affected communities.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Kolapo Alimi disclosed this in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday.  

‘Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that the curfew earlier imposed on Orolu and Irepodun local governments continues.

The curfew time has now changed to between the hours of 6pm every night and 6am in the morning. Human and vehicular movement is to be restricted during the curfew until further notice.

This is to forestall attempts to destroy lives and property during this period, because of the land dispute.

Anyone caught wandering or moving around in Irepodun and Orolu local governments during the curfew period will be arrested and prosecuted appropriately.
