Connecting Former Senate President Bukola Saraki With Aisha Patigi
Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki was the Chief Guest at an event organized by friends and associates of former Sports minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi on Friday, 12 August in Ilorin, Kwara state. It was also the former minister’s birthday.
The programme held at Arca Santa Arena was organized to mark the 2022 International Youth Day.
It was called ‘ The Omoluabi Summit’ and it had as its theme ‘Character as Leadership’.
While giving his speech, Saraki had described good character as a key quality required for a good leader and noted that a leader that stands in his or her truth should be ready to face challenges and persecution just like he did as president of the eighth senate.
He glanced in Hon Aisha Patigi’s direction and added that she also had a similar experience.
Aisha, who was then the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs , had in 2020 alleged that N300 million was diverted from local government funds.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had later set up an eight-person panel of inquiry to take account of the federal allocations gotten by the 16 local governments in the state as well as their share of the internally generated revenue from May 29, 2019 to 2020.
The panel in its report later asserted that no money was missing.
Aisha , who had before then gotten reassigned to Ministry of Special Duties, left the cabinet on 28 August 2020 and she joined the PDP a few months ago.
