Couple Who Faked Their Abduction Arrested In Lagos

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos state, Benjamin Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed on Saturday that a couple has been arrested in the state for faking their own kidnapping.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that though he did not disclose the names of the couple, Benjamin however said the man is a 53-year-old technician while his wife, who is 48 years old, is a body massager and a bone setter,

 He added that they were arrested last week after a family member reported that they had been kidnapped.  It was however discovered that the man and his wife were still at their house in Badagry while sending text messages to their relations to inform them that they had been abducted, the police had met the wife and three children during a visit to their residence on Tuesday.

The couple had done this to get N5m from their relatives.

‘The man came up with the idea and sold it to his wife. He did not deny it before the police. He said he did it through a text message for a purpose. He said he did it because he needed  N3m to rebuy his house .

The man claimed he decided to organize his own abduction because none of his brothers and sisters doing well and some living abroad are willing to assist him financially.

He claimed that if they heard of his abduction with his wife, they would negotiate with the kidnappers and pay the money.

 The wife admitted that she supported her husband in the crime. She also admitted that her husband discussed the matter with her and she gave her approval because they never thought it would turn out negative.

The woman claimed if the plan  had worked out, it would have been the easiest way to raise money to buy back their house since her husband’s brothers in UK were unwilling to help him’  Hundeyin said.

He said the couple claimed to have regretted their action and  asked for forgiveness from their families and the police .
