The developments recorded towards the end of last week made it become clear that the good relationship between Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state and his immediate predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been dealt a blow.
Huge cracks are becoming visible in the wall of Kaduna state APC and if necessary steps are not quickly taken to bring the situation under control, the cracks may become too wide for mere fingers to fix them and the wall may even break.
It had begun on Saturday with the governor lamenting during a Town Hall Meeting that Nasir El-Rufai left a humongous debt for his administration adding that what is now available to the state is not enough to pay salary.
Sani said his administration inherited a total of $587 million, N85 billion and 115 contractual liabilities .
‘Despite the huge debt burden of $587m , N85bn, and N115bn Contractual Liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna state towards progress and sustainable development. We have conducted a thorough assessment of our situation and are sharpening our focus accordingly’ the governor had submitted.
While the governor had presented his complaints as an economic motive, allies of El-Rufai however suggested a political motive.
Kaduna state APC also announced the suspension of the state Woman Leader, Maryam Suleiman from office on Sunday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that she was suspended for coming to El-Rufai’s defence .
The party submitted that a disciplinary action has been taken against Suleiman while citing gross misconduct.
In a suspension notice dated March 31, 2024, which was signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the party in Badarawa/Malali ward, Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa, respectively; the state APC asserted that the Woman Leader was suspended for attempting to tarnish the governor’s image.
The suspension letter further alleged that Suleiman had also been involved in launching an attack against the governor’s political adviser, Manzo Maigari by political thugs.
Citing violation of Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC constitution, the party stated that Suleiman’s suspension would remain indefinite pending a thorough investigation into the allegations raised against her.
The suspended APC woman leader had in a viral video condemned the governor for the remarks he made on the humongous debt burden he inherited from the El-Rufai administration during the weekend.
Suleiman accused Sani of mismanagement of funds while urging him to refrain from blaming El-Rufai for his failures .
For the former FCT minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, it is a case of the chicken coming home to roost and former Senator Shehu Sani would definitely be having a good laugh.
Ahead of the 2015 general election , former senator Shehu Sani and El-Rufai had sought to get the APC gubernatorial nomination but the former minister eventually earned the governorship nomination while Shehu got the Kaduna Central APC senate nomination.
Shehu had also gotten ready to contest the gubernatorial primary election with El-Rufai ahead of the 2019 general election but was not only denied this opportunity but also somewhat forced to leave the party for People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
Governor Sani and Shehu Sani have been close friends for years and to throw him (Shehu Sani) off balance, El-Rufai placed the APC Kaduna Central senate nomination on the laps of Uba Sani and later ensured that he emerged as his successor in 2023 after he had spent four years in the senate.
It is believed that Governor Sani has capitalized on the existing frosty relationship between El-Rufai and President Bola Tinubu to say ‘ To your tents, O Israel’.

‘The governor does not want to be seen as fighting the president simply because El-Rufai is not happy with him. He has secured his freedom so to speak but he would definitely find it challenging. He hardly stays in Kaduna , he is always in Abuja .
He has not empowered anyone. People are not also happy with the governor because he is wasting money on unimportant projects like the Banquet Hall that has N7billion as its project cost ‘ said a source-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
