CVR: Oba Adesuyi Haastrup Promises ‘Necessary Support’ As Osun INEC REC Embarks On Monitoring Visit To 4 LGs In Ijesaland

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke embarked on a monitoring visit to the four local governments in Ijesa land as the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise that started on August 18, 2025, entered its third week on Wednesday.

The REC and members of his team were in Oriade, Ilesa West, Ilesa East, and Obokun Local Governments to ensure seamless conduct of the exercise in line with INEC’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and efficiency.

The electoral umpire in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Mr Musa Olurode, who is the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State office, noted that during the monitoring visit, Dr Agboke inspected and interacted with officials at the registration centres, while also engaging with prospective registrants to gauge their experiences.

He emphasized the importance of orderly conduct and adherence to INEC’s guidelines to guarantee a credible voter database.

Noting that INEC remains committed to addressing challenges encountered in the field and ensuring that all eligible citizens especially vulnerable groups such as the aged, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women, are given priority attention at the registration centres, he also assured that INEC would continue to provide necessary logistics, security, and technical support to make the CVR process smooth, accessible, and free of irregularities across all centres.

The monitoring exercise is a strategy aimed at strengthening public confidence and reinforcing public participation ahead of future elections.

The statement noted that Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke also visited the palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesa land, Oba (Dr.) Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, on the same day during which he highlighted the importance of broad civic participation in the electoral process and emphasized the urgent need for eligible citizens in Ijesa land to take advantage of the CVR exercise.

He appealed to the revered monarch to use his royal stool and influence to mobilize his subjects to register and ensure that their voices are represented at the polls.

Dr. Agboke said INEC is determined to make the exercise seamless and inclusive, while also giving priority attention to the aged, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and other vulnerable groups.

The advocacy visit, he added, was in recognition of the pivotal role that the traditional institutions play in bridging the gap between INEC and the grassroots.

Oba (Dr.) Clement Adesuyi Haastrup appreciated the visit and expressed readiness to support INEC’s sensitization drive while promising that the ‘palace’ would continue to use its influence to encourage wider participation, noting that active civic engagement is a collective responsibility.

The visit to the Owa Obokun’s palace , the statement noted, is in continuation of INEC’s engagement with traditional rulers across the state which is aimed at boosting voter registration and strengthening citizens’ confidence in the electoral process.-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
