Defence Minister Commends Gov Idris For Improving Security In Kebbi

Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, has commended the governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his outstanding efforts in tackling security challenges and restoring peace in the Land of Equity.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that Badaru said this while talking to journalists at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday after a closed-door meeting with Dr Idris.

Alhaji Badaru acknowledged the significant progress made in curbing insecurity, particularly in areas previously affected by banditry while conveying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appreciation to the troops in Kebbi State for their bravery and effective operations, especially in diminishing the activities of the Lakurawa bandits.

He noted that the president has sent a message of gratitude to the security forces for their contributions to national security.

‘Governor Nasir Idris has reversed the security challenges that once plagued parts of the state. Today, farmers have returned to their farms without fear, and bumper harvests are being recorded.

Kebbi has remained peaceful under Comrade Nasir Idris’ leadership, who is deeply committed to security matters. I am fully aware of the situation in the state before he assumed office. That’s why I featured him in my press briefing in Abuja, using a video to highlight his administration’s achievements in securing Kebbi’ he said.

The minister also described Governor Idris as a role model for other leaders, emphasizing that collective efforts by stakeholders across the country could bring insecurity to an end.

He also held consultations with the military command at the 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, before his meeting with the governor while reassuring the troops of the Federal Government’s support and commitment to ending banditry.

‘The president is grateful for the work being done by the military nationwide to restore peace. We are here to motivate them to intensify their operations against the Lakurawa and ensure lasting peace’ he said.

While acknowledging that the fight against insecurity is ongoing, Badaru noted that the situation in Kebbi and across Nigeria is steadily improving.

The minister, who was accompanied by senior officers of the Military High Command, disclosed that he has visited Kebbi State with a team of security experts from the Office of the National Security Adviser to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the security situation in the state-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
