Delta Govt Resolves Rent, Lease Disputes Between Heritage Energy Ltd And Landlords

Delta state Government has resolved the conflict between operators of the Oil Mineral License OML 30; the Heritage Energy Limited and their landlords over rents and expired leases.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday noted that the state Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Vincent Oyibode ,who resolved the dispute during the meeting held with the parties in his office in Asaba, urged Heritage Oil Company to expedite action in respect of the payment of rental fees and renewal of leases.
He said the delay in budgeting process is cumbersome for oil companies and urged the company in question to work hard to ensure that the new rates for rent are paid next year.
Chief Oyibode also disclosed that the State Government would soon hold a stakeholder engagement with oil companies and communities where they are located to resolve lingering issues militating against sustainable oil production in the state.
The Oil and Gas Commissioner while commending the oil landlords for their peaceful disposition and for not taking the laws into their hands, called on the affected Oil Company to cut down the agitations by processing the payments on time.
He said Delta state remains the most investor-friendly destination in the country despite the recent happenings at Okuama and urged all stakeholders to work towards an enhanced peace and security as encapsulated in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
On the expired lease, Chief Oyibode urged the oil company to carry out legal verification within two months to resolve the matter and pay the oil landlords as soon as practicable.
Dr Jerry Oharisi and Mr Edesiri Akpomudjere of Heritage Energy Limited’s Government and Community Relations Department, said the land rental payment is undergoing a verification exercise, assuring that it would be paid next month.
Earlier, National Chairman of the OML 30 Landlords and families, Barr. Alfred Serumeh regretted that Heritage Oil had refused to pay for the expired leases noting that this was last paid by SPDC over 20 years ago.
He said oil landlords are ready to cooperate with government and the oil company to ensure sustainable oil production in the state but however urged the Government to prevail on Heritage Energy to fulfill its obligations to the oil landlords-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
