‘Dillydallying’ Ends As Rep Wole Oke Finally Leaves PDP For APC
A few days after releasing a video in which he complained about not being treated fairly by PDP leaders in Osun State, a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Oluwole Busayo Oke has announced his decision to leave the party for APC.
‘This is Oluwole Oke, I am from Ijesha North, I represent Obokun/Oriade in the House of Representatives, I will like to speak to my constituents and citizens of Osun State, on happenings regarding governance, political loyalty and other issues,
I am a member of PDP, I have been a member of PDP from day one since
1998, and I have never defected even when other leaders, who have served as governors, senators, defected from the party, I stayed put to show loyalty to the party and I nurtured and financed the party to greatness.
For clarity of purpose, for twelve years I remained in the party to nurture it, I supported my incumbent governor to become a senator ,I offended so many people just because I wanted the party to get into power in the state, but today what is the story, I am the enemy of the government, I am the enemy of the party…’ he had submitted interalia in the video in question.
The federal lawmaker has however said to ‘To your tents, O Israel’ to PDP.
In a letter sent to the PDP Chairman, Ward 7, Obokun local government , which was dated April 16, 2025, and had the National Chairman, the state chairman and the local government chairman of the party cc’d, the federal lawmaker noted that the decision to resign from the PDP was sequel to consultation and engagement with his ‘political associates, family members and friends’.
Rep Wole Oke , an indigene of Esa-Oke , is the Chairman, Committee on Judiciary.
This development has made him become the only APC federal lawmaker in Osun State, as the PDP had before now had all the three senators and the nine members of the House of Representatives as its members.
Hon Wole Oke , who represents Ijesha North federal constituency, became a member of the House of Representatives in 2003, and he has occupied the parliament seat since then except for the four years that Hon Nathaniel Agunbiade spent in the National Assembly.
Agunbiade had defeated Oke in the 2011 National Assembly elections while the Esa-Oke born federal lawmaker staged a comeback in 2015.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Rep Wole Oke has left the party because the relationship between him and Governor Ademola Adeleke has been far from ‘excellent’.
The frostiness of the relationship became known in the early days of the Adeleke administration.
While the list of caretaker committees for local governments and LCDAs was being compiled, Oke had nominated his loyalists for chairmanship of the committees in Oriade local Government, Ijebu-Ijesha , LCDA, Ipetu-Ijesha, Obokun local government, Ibokun and LCDA, Ilare.
Only Taiwo Adeyekun was however considered while Alawiye Olaosebikan, Kehinde Oluwasesan aka Agala and one other were not appointed as chairmen.
Governor Adeleke later appointed Alawiye as Special Assistant while Agala was also appointed as local government secretary. People who are close to the federal lawmaker also asserted that it was Governor Adeleke, who took steps to stop him from emerging as Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and later as Chairman, Committee on Public Accounts in 2023-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
