DJ Posing As Portable Tricks Offa-Based Club Owner Into Paying Him N790,000
An Ekiti state-based Disc Jockey, Famotemi Toluwani Timothy, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC agents attached to the Ilorin Zonal Command for tricking an Offa-based club owner into paying him N790,000.
Head, Media & Publicity of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday, said Famotemi was arrested on Thursday, September 29 2022 for allegedly impersonating Habeeb Okikiola.
Habeeb, popularly known as ‘Portable’, is a hip hop act.
Timothy, an indigene of Igede-Ekiti , Ifelodun Local Government , Ekiti state, allegedly opened an Instagram account using the name ‘Zazu Omolalomi Portable’ and claimed that it belongs to the popular musician.
‘Investigations showed that the suspect met one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, who owns a Club in Offa, Kwara state, on social media and introduced himself as ‘Portable” and agreed to perform at his Club for the sum of N1 million naira.
The suspect requested that 80 percent of the money be paid before the event, and Adebayo reportedly paid the sum of N790,000 (Seven Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira) into the bank account provided by the suspect.
However, the self-styled artiste, ‘Portable” did not show up at the event, which was held on February 18, 2022 and he later blocked all means of communication with him’ he said.
