Don’t Jump The Gun, My Tenure Ends May 29, Gov Ganduje Tells Kano Gov-elect

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has advised the state governor-elect, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to tread cautiously while stating the need for him to avoid jumping the gun.
Ganduje while reacting to the directive issued from the office of the governor-elect, asking individuals, groups, and organizations undertaking construction projects at public places to ‘pause action’ , noted that he remains the chief executive officer of the state.
He has urged Yusuf to wait until he gets sworn in as governor on May 29.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Kano state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba , who issued a statement on behalf of the governor on Friday ,said the governor-elect’s action was tantamount to jumping the gun.
He added that issuing a directive on a matter affecting a government laid down policy while the incumbent is yet to run his full term is not necessary.
He also asserted that Ganduje has the mandate to allocate plots adding that every government had done this including the previous administration under which the governor-elect had served.
‘All he can do is to reverse some of the actions taken by his predecessor when he assumes office if there is a valid reason to do so.
No governor-elect has the constitutional or legal powers to determine the direction of a state until he is sworn in.
Based on available records, the previous administration has made land allocation in some of the public places the governor-elect categorically mentioned which include the city wall, with allocation of land from Kofar Nassarawa to Kofar Mata; shops at the Kofar Mata Eid Prayer Ground facing the Orion Cinema and from Kofar Mata to ‘Yan yashi opposite the Eid Ground and from Kofar Kabuga to Kofar Famfo facing the old Campus of Bayero University’ he said.
Garba noted that the advisory issued by the governor-elect had generated a lot of tension in the state and therefore advised him to desist from such in order to avoid confusion.
He also told individuals and organizations who had acquired land after following due process and procedures not to be threatened by the directive in question- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
