Drama As Gov Okpebholo Zigzags On Free Bus Service For Edo Residents

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has been zigzagging with respect to the approval of free bus service for citizens and residents of the state.

The governor had earlier on Wednesday disclosed his decision to approve free bus service for residents of the state through the Edo City Transport Service.

Okpebholo’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua had in a statement he issued in Benincity described the initiative as part of the new administration’s effort to entrench its policy direction.

 Recall that Okpebholo was sworn in as governor of Edo State on November 12, 2024. 

The free bus ride, he noted, will cover Benin metropolis and the three senatorial districts in the state (intra- and intercity routes) adding that this was done to show the governor’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of Edo residents.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Itua  has however in separate statement on Wednesday night urged residents of the state to ignore the previous statement and its contents.

‘The earlier statement announcing the approval of free bus service by the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, should be disregarded.

The governor is being briefed on issues surrounding the operation of the state-owned Edo City Transport Service, operators of the free bus service.

For now, the free bus service has been placed on hold.
