DSS Arrests Ogun Lawmaker For Allegedly Providing Safe Haven For Cultists..There’s More Going On Than Meets The Eye-PDP, Minority Leader

A member of the Ogun state House of Assembly ,Hon. Damilare Mohammed ,has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and taken into custody.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Hon. Damilare Mohammed, who represents Sagamu Constituency I, has been accused of making his official residence a safe haven for cultists.
Six suspected cultists were reportedly arrested along with him at the legislative quarters, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, in the early hours of Thursday.
The chaps were allegedly involved in the recent clash between rival cult groups in Sagamu which had claimed eight lives.
‘The member, representing Sagamu state Constituency (1), Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, was alleged to have provided shelter to the fleeing cultists. A team of security agents, in a sting operation after a tip-off, arrested the suspects at the residence of the lawmaker.
Those arrested, according to sources, include Damilare Bello Mohammed aka DRE, Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya and Tobi Owoade. They are presently undergoing interrogation at the Department of State Service (DSS) state headquarters.
Sources revealed that many dangerous weapons, including guns, were recovered from the suspects. It would be recalled that Hon. Bello was arrested by the DSS for masterminding the violent protest that took place in February this year in Sagamu over the naira redesign policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
During the protest, irate young people vandalized about 10 banks and other public infrastructure’ an unsigned press statement that was promoted by the state government said.
The state PDP in a statement issued in Abeokuta by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Akinloye Bankole, has however accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of seeking to ‘give a dog a bad name and hang him’ .
‘As much as we do not object to DSS or any security agency’s investigation into the Sagamu carnage which has allegedly claimed more than 25 lives, we however think that the investigation is not being conducted with optimum professionalism and sincerity.
The whole thing is an orchestrated attempt to give Hon Bello a bad name just to hang him.
It is also interesting that the Sagamu residence of the honourable member was thoroughly vandalized earlier today by some suspected APC-enabled thugs. The same man who returned from London to Abeokuta where he made contributions on the floor of the house yesterday (Wednesday) concerning security matters in his constituency.
We have always held that the Sagamu killings are a direct fallout of the criminal empowerment of cultists against the people by the APC.
The onus is, however, on the DSS to rise above partisanship in its duties. The security outfit is a creation of the law and should not be reduced to a mere tool of a political witch hunt by both the governor and APC against perceived opponents’ the statement said.
Minority Leader of Ogun state House of Assembly, Hon Lukman Adeleye, has also accused the executive arm of government of intimidating state lawmakers and members of the opposition.
‘Yes, we were at the DSS office today (Thursday) to check on Hon Damilare Bello, who was arrested in a Gestapo manner at the legislative quarters, Abeokuta in the early hours of Thursday about 12 am. We condemn the manner of the arrest which we see as just sheer intimidation from the executive arm of the government. We are further saddened by the fact that the state government was already circulating the information of his arrest and that he was found with guns whereas the DSS didn’t tell us that.
The DSS has required that we should allow them to do their job and we have agreed and equally told them to be fast about whatever they want to do. So, we are hoping for the best and that justice will eventually prevail’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com
