Edu/Moro/Patigi Reps Seat 2027: Let’s Support Moro LG-Mohammed Mariam Alhassan

As 2027 General Election approaches, our political landscape continues to evolve with new debates, alignments, and possibilities. Although Nigeria’s democracy informally accommodates rotational leadership across many constituencies, this principle has unfortunately not been reflected in our own federal constituency.

Since the beginning of the Fourth Republic, Moro Local Government has not been given the opportunity to represent us at the federal level. For nearly 28 years, the reps seat has rotated only between Edu and Patigi LGAs.

For the sake of justice, fairness, equity, peace, and the collective progress of our people, it is only right that Moro local government be given due consideration in 2027. An injustice to one is indeed an injustice to all. Both major religions we practice teach love, mutual respect, and consideration for our neighbours.

By 2027, our constituency will naturally produce a Senator from Patigi LGA, who will also be a Nupe-speaking person, placing an even greater moral responsibility on us to ensure inclusiveness. Moro LG deserves a sense of belonging; democracy should not be reduced to a ‘winner-takes-all’ arrangement. Our long-standing symbiotic relationship must be protected, strengthened, and passed on to future generations. Let us rise above primordial sentiments that divide us and embrace sincerity, unity, and fairness.

Since 1999, the Nupe-speaking LGAs have had the opportunity to lead, and we have all witnessed their various contributions in both human and capital development. Now is the time to try Moro LGA in 2027.

In this spirit, I earnestly call on all brothers and sisters of Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency to, for the first time, support Moro LGA for the House of Representatives seat.

At the same time, we appeal to our people in Moro LG: for the sake of God Almighty, let us unite, close ranks, and speak with one voice. Let us avoid internal rivalry and needless divisions that do not lead to growth or prosperity.

Our collective prayer is for Moro LG to present a credible and capable candidate, one with impeccable character, integrity, experience, broad exposure, and a genuine commitment to community development.
