Efforts To Increase Access To Healthcare In Osun Already Yielding Results-Gov Adeleke’s Special Adviser

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, has described ongoing efforts to reposition healthcare in Osun State for effective service delivery as an investment that promises many benefits, noting that the recognition of the state as the best performing state in the Southwest zone in Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC) is the beginning of good things to come.

Dr. Akindele, who in a statement he issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com welcomed the recognition as a true reflection of the Adeleke administration’s commitment to healthy living in Osun State, said the special attention given to expanding healthcare access for the people by the governor has been justified.

‘A healthy population is vital to economic development. And, from the time of assuming office, Governor Adeleke has prioritized efforts and interventions that will guarantee a healthy population.

In the last two years, primary healthcare facilities have been upscaled to improve service delivery while vulnerable population, notably pensioners and persons with disabilities, have been enrolled on the state’s health insurance scheme. All of these are done to ensure that Osun State people have access to healthcare when the need arises without hassle, ensuring a healthy population, which will translate into increased economic activities’ he said.

Dr. Akindele also noted that Osun State winning the UHC award which comes with a $500,000 cash reward, was a validation beyond the state that the Adeleke administration’s investment in healthcare is real and impactful, adding that this will further spur the governor to sustain interest in making sure that the state earns the top spot in the entire country by investing more in the health sector.

He congratulated the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Jola Akintola, for spearheading efforts that has resulted in this honour for Osun State while also commending the Osun State Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), Osun Primary Healthcare Board, and the relevant agencies for their collaborative efforts in achieving this feat.

‘This honour is a collective one, even beyond the Health ministry, especially the Chief of Staff, Accountant-General, Budget Office, and a host of others, who are very supportive in ensuring the successful executions of programmes and interventions that will benefit the health of Osun State people’ Dr. Akindele added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
