Ekiti Airport Welcomes Inaugural Flight As Gov Fayemi Bows Out Today
The new Cargo Airport , Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, welcomed its inaugural flight on Saturday – a NAF 930.
Aviation Minister, former senator Haidi Sirika was at the airport to welcome the inaugural flight.
The multipurpose commercial aircraft touched down at the airport at 10.20 am.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Governor Kayode Fayemi, the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, the Deputy Governor-Elect, Monisade Afuye, Minister for Trade, Industry and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo as well as other state functionaries were also at the airport.
Onboard the aircraft flown by flight lieutenant Balogun were the Federal Government delegation.
Interestingly , Fayemi will leave office today, Sunday, 16 October 2022 while the Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji, will take the oath of office and become the new Chief Executive of Ekiti state
Oyebanji, who was the APC candidate in the guber elction held in the state on June 18 , had been declared as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
This is the first time a new person will serve as governor of Ekiti state apart from Chief Ayo Fayose and Dr Kayode Fayemi since 2010.
Fayose served as governor of Ekiti state from 2003 to 2006 and 2014 to 2018 while Fayemi was the Chief Executive of the state between 2010 and 2014 and from 2018 to 2022- Team@orientactualmags.com
