Emefiele: We’ve Done Nothing Wrong-DSS

Emefiele: We’ve Done Nothing Wrong-DSS

The Department of State Services, DSS , on Wednesday asserted that as a security agency, it has done nothing wrong in respect of the actions taken on the matter involving the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele .

The DSS also  condemned the incident that had its officers  and the officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS disagreeing on what should happen to Emefiele after being granted bail.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  Spokesman for the DSS , Peter Afunanya,  who said  this in a statement  on Wednesday, asserted that  the security agency  did not break any law in all it had done so far with regard to  Emefiele’s case.

‘For emphasis, the DSS has not broken any laws in handling Emefiele’s case despite efforts by some elements to skew the narrative to the contrary. The service had since alerted the public of sinister plots to discredit its leadership.

In pursuit of its assignments, it will strive to remain professional, maintain ethical standards and a high sense of discipline. The Service will ensure that it will not be used for clout and fame chasing or delusional heroism’ the statement said.

It would be recalled that 46 days after his arrest by the Department of State Services, DSS and two weeks after the Federal High Court , Abuja gave an order for his immediate release or arraignment, Mr Godwin Emefiele,  had charges preferred against him and he was arraigned for illegal possession of firearms.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court,  Lagos had set Emefiele’s bail at N20million and the DSS officers and officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS had disagreed over  who should take custody of the suspended CBN governor.

The Armed Squad Commander of the NCS, Williams Udom, who had come to give tactical support to the prison officials in the court premises, was manhandled, with his service uniform torn.

It took the intervention of a senior female DSS officer, who arrived at the court premises hours after the standoff and had a brief chat with  the NCS officials and her colleagues to resolve the matter.

Emefiele was rearrested immediately as he stepped out of the courtroom- Team@orientactualmags.com
