Emir Of Ilorin Honours Ex-Rep Moshood Mustapha With Chieftaincy Title…Here’s What Makes It ‘Special’
The Emir of Ilorin, His Eminence, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has announced his decision to honour a popular politician and businessman, Alhaji Moshood Mustapha, with a chieftaincy title.
This was done to show that his contribution to the development of Ilorin is appreciated and recognized.
The Emir has honoured him with the chieftaincy title of Wakilin of Ilorin while also naming Alhaji AbdulKadri Tunji Nagode as Dan Amanah of Ilorin.
Hon Moshood Mustapha had at different times, served as Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Commissioner for Agriculture, and Kwara state Amiru-li- hajj during the Bukola Saraki administration while he also represented Asa/Ilorin West in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015.
The former federal lawmaker now has under his belt-a ‘unique’ achievement, and he is the second person among political figures in Ilorin to enjoy such a privilege.
Alhaji Moshood Mustapha and his father, Alhaji Shehu Usman Mustapha are currently holders of chieftaincy titles in the Ilorin Emirate Council.
While Alhaji Moshood is the Wakinlin of Ilorin, his father, a nonagenarian, is the Wali of Ilorin.
The Wali and Wakinlin now have many things in common; Alhaji Usman Mustapha served as Commissioner for Finance in the old Kwara state during the second Republic while the Wakinlin also served as Commissioner for Land and Housing during the Bukola Saraki administration.
The first person to enjoy such a privilege was Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who got turbaned as Turaki of Ilorin in 2006.
With Dr Bukola Saraki well-positioned as heir apparent, the late Dr Olushola Saraki had his Turaki title transferred to him while he stepped up and got installed as the Wazinrin of Ilorin.
The late Dr Olusola Saraki not only attended the turbanning ceremony of his son in 2006, but also enjoyed the privilege of having the two of them as holders of chieftaincy titles in the Ilorin Emirate Council until he died on November 14, 2012.
What is somewhat similar to this and in a sense ‘unique’, is that of two full siblings being holders of chieftaincy titles in the Ilorin Emirate Council.
Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, who is the eldest son of late Alhaji AGF Abdul Razaq, is the Mutawali of Ilorin while his younger brother, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is the Sardauna of Ilorin-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
