FCC: It’s Short-lived Celebration For Obinna Oriaku As President Tinubu Nominates Victor Ikeji As New Federal Commissioner
Obinna Oriaku, who was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as Federal Commissioner (Abia State), and had the required confirmation hearing held for him, the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the 35 other federal commissioners by the senate will no longer be the representative of the God’s Own State in the federal agency.
Recall that Obinna and others had also gotten a positive nod from the parliament late last month after the ‘confirmation hearing’.
It was however a short-lived celebration for Obinna as President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Victor Ikeji to the senate as the Federal Commissioner who will represent Abia State.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the president’s letter nominating Ikeji as the new Federal Commissioner was read out by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during the plenary session he presided over on Thursday.
The president noted that the nomination was made pursuant to Section 154(1) of the 1999
Constitution (as amended) adding that Ikeji will replace Obinna Oriaku, who was previously nominated in a letter dated October 9.
The Senate President subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations while asking the panel to submit its report within one week-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
