Federal Poly Auchi To Peter Obi: You Lied, Nobody Died During Our SUG Election

The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, has described as untrue the assertions made by former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi that two students died in the violence recorded during the institution’s student union election last Saturday.

Recall that Mr Peter Obi, who was the LP presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, had in an X.com post alleged that the violence recorded during the election in question led to the death of two students and left several others injured.

‘I watched the heartbreaking video that showed students at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State running for their lives as they WERE BEING SHOT AT during their student election yesterday, which left 2 students dead and several injured…’ the former governor had submitted.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the polytechnic reacted to Mr Peter Obi’s assertions in a statement issued by its Director of Public Relations, Angela Egele on Tuesday while asserting that there was security presence during the SUG election in question.

‘The attention of the management of Auchi Polytechnic has been drawn to the statement credited to Mr. Peter Obi, wherein he alleged that the recently held Student Union Government (SUG) election at the institution resulted in the death of two students and injuries to several others due to gunfire.

The Management categorically states that these claims are false, misleading, and completely unfounded.

For the avoidance of doubt, no student was shot, injured, or killed during the electoral process, which was subsequently declared inconclusive due to observed irregularities’ the statement said.

The institution noted that soldiers, Police, Civil Defence Corps, State Security Service, Mobile Police and the local vigilante group were on the ground to provide security during the election and therefore urged the public to disregard Obi’s assertions.

‘Subsequently, we urge the general public, stakeholders, and members of the press to disregard this misinformation.

Auchi Polytechnic remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
