Festus Keyamo’s Confirmation Hearing ‘Paused’ …Senators Opt For ‘Closed Session’
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who was at the National Assembly Complex for his ‘confirmation hearing’ on Monday, has had his political future left hanging in the balance.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that trouble began for the popular lawyer when Senator Darlington Nwokocha, representing Abia Central , moved a motion to suspend the confirmation hearing process pending investigation and explanation on what happened to the N52 billion committed to public works programme in the 774 local governments in the country during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
In what may have been a preplanned plot, the point of order was seconded by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South.
Abaribe, who quoted Order 88 (b), moved that the Senate should pause action on the confirmation hearing process to allow the national assembly look into the issues around the ministerial nominee and the ministry he headed’.
To save the situation, the senate opted for closed session where a decision would be taken on the senior advocate’s confirmation hearing.
The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, presided over the senate hearing.
Keyamo served as Director of Strategic Communications of the Muhamadu Buhari campaign organization ahead of the 2019 presidential election and he was appointed as Minister of State for Niger Delta on September 24, 2019 , he was later redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
