Fire Destroys Part Of Ooni Of Ife’s Palace

A small fire which broke out on Friday  evening at the Ooni of Ife’s palace, Ile-Ife, Osun state has been put out.

It was gathered that the fire was detected at about 11:30pm on Friday.

First responders were called and  the fire was rapidly extinguished.

Spokesman for the palace, Mr Moses  Olafare in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com not only confirmed this development but also disclosed what caused the fire.

‘A building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace Of The Ooni Of Ife at about 11:30pm yesterday had flames engulfing it,   the incident was caused by a power surge that  resulted in electrical fire.

The inferno did not spread beyond the affected building located at a section of the palace as the fire was swiftly put out through the combined efforts of the state Fire Service, OAU Fire Service and the Palace Emergency Control Unit.

No casualties 

No injuries recorded 

No cultural item was lost

Governor  Ademola Adeleke of Osun state had since  condoled with the Ooni of Ife, Oba  Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the fire incident.

The governor in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by his spokesman, Mr  Olawale Rasheed on Saturday described the incident as unfortunate and prayed that God will continue to protect the traditional ruler and his family, Adeleke, who thanked God that no life was lost in the incident, however, noted that it was unfortunate that a part of the building got destroyed. 

 ‘I sympathize with our royal majesty, the Ooni of Ife over the fire incident that happened late yesterday night. It is unfortunate to experience such at this critical time.
