The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has reacted to the food poisoning incident that was recorded at the institution during the weekend which had Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student, accused of poisoning two young women including his girlfriend.
Recall that cops had arrested Ayomide for allegedly poisoning Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu and Odumosu Semilore.
The police had submitted that the suspect poisoned what was offered the two women which is believed to be an admixture of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unknown harmful substance.
Ayomide had invited his girlfriend to his residence in the Surulere community, Camp area , Abeokuta on Friday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that a statement issued by the Assistant Director, Media Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Olasunkanmi Olajide, has however absolved Ayomide from blame.
An accusing finger has been pointed at the pastry chef as the institution has submitted that the cakes purchased by Ayomide ‘contained a high level of alcohol which led to the unintentional intoxication of the consumers’.
‘Ayomide had no malicious intent, as confirmed by the medical examination at our institution’s health centre. The affected individuals were discharged from the hospital the following day and even took their examinations on November 10, 2023.
It is crucial to emphasize that all charges against Ayomide, brought forth by the parents and the school of the affected ladies, have been dropped due to the lack of malicious intent’ the statement said.
Spokesperson for the police in Ogun state, Omolola Odutola, also confirmed that Ayomide has been released on bail after the issues had been resolved by parents of the affected students.
‘He (Ayomide) is entitled to bail. The girl has recovered, and she has also been discharged from the hospital. The parents have settled the matter’ she said-Team@orientactualmags.com
