Barely 24 hours after a video that had controversial hip hop act, Habeeb Okikiola popularly called Portable obstructing police officers surfaced online, the Force Headquarters has declared that he may be made to face prosecution.
It will be recalled that while resisting arrest at his bar as seen in the viral video, Portable had told the cops that he is a ‘superstar’ ,who works for the ruling APC.
‘You dey tell superstar say ‘you are under arrest’. In my office? You are telling me you are under arrest for what? Why , why? Did I know you?
Petition against me that’s why you come and scattered my bar? You come and everybody is running up and down. Even me…You are supposed to call me then I will come to your office or my manager will come. I have manager’ he had said.
‘No, don’t tell me this one I’m doing will not help me. I’m a superstar. I’m a celebrity. Show me your ID cards everybody. Show me your ID cards oga….I’m a federal government liability. I work for APC. Akoi Tinubu. We own Nigeria’ he added when one of the cops urged him to cooperate with them.
Little or nothing was known about Habeeb Okikiola before December 2021, he however attained stardom after contributing to the song ‘ZaZoo Zehh’ featuring Olamide and a popular dancer, Poco Lee.
Force PRO , Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi , a Chief Superintendent of Police, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday not only condemned Portable’s actions but also noted that he may be made to face prosecution.
‘The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the actions of one Habeeb Okikiola popularly called Portable in a viral video, where he was seen exhibiting irrational behavior and hurling insults at Police Officers carrying out their legal duty, an action which is criminal and punishable by the criminal laws of Nigeria.
The action of the singer in the video was unruly and conducts likely to cause a breach of peace and incitement of violence against the officers who were detailed to execute a warrant of arrest on him for a series of allegations of criminal acts leveled against Mr Portable.
The NPF will take all necessary steps to investigate his actions and ensure that he is prosecuted for any criminal activity he may have committed depending on the severity of the offense.
The Police will not condone any unruly act, assault or attack on its officers who are on lawful duty. We need to respect our law enforcement agents who perpetually take the risk of maintaining law and order and fight crimes and criminality in our society’ he submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com
