
Prominent members of the Kwara state Social Democratic Party (SDP) ,who were House of Assembly Aspirants and had sought party nominations ahead of the 2023 general election, on Monday, announced their decision to leave the party for the ruling APC along with hundreds of their supporters.
The SDP defectors cited the exponential growth and the tremendous development Kwara state had witnessed on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s watch.

The SDP defectors asserted that they had left the party along with hundreds of supporters. This had come a few weeks after some former SDP aspirants had also left the party for the APC .
It will be recalled that an SDP stalwart , Professor Oba Abdulraheem had earlier left the party after its gubernatorial primary election and picked up the Kwara state NNPP guber nomination.
The SDP defectors , who were House of Assembly aspirants, include ; Mr Ahmed Kola Akorede- Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency , Offa Local Government; Mr Abdulmajeed Dolapo – Balogun/Ojomu Constituency ,Offa Local Government, and Mrs. Adeyemo Olufunmilayo – Magaji Ngeri Constituency , Ilorin West Local Government.
A Kwara state APC Chieftain, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Team@orientactualmags.com that the developments getting recorded had shown that more SDP members were ready to leave the party and join the APC having lost faith in the SDP.
He added that the ruling APC had also been receiving defectors from other opposition parties including PDP- Team@orientactualmags.com
