Sources said the ill-fated boat that has a carrying capacity of 100 people was overloaded .

Chairman of Kaiama local government, Hon Abubakar Abdullahi and the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar have reportedly visited the affected community to offer their condolences.

Former chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Hon Mahmoud Salihu Gbajibo ,who confirmed the incident on Saturday , disclosed that 37 bodies were recovered from the river by a rescue team in the community.
