General Election: Cops Providing Security For Osun VIPs Told To Stay Away From Polling Stations

As the 2023 general election begins with the presidential election on Saturday, February 25 , policemen providing security for politicians, government functionaries and other VIPs have been told to stay away from the polling stations on the Election Day.
This was ostensibly done to ensure that such police officers are not used by office-holders and other VIPs to intimidate people at the polling stations.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Osun state, Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, a Superintendent of Police, warned in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday that anyone found wanting will face disciplinary actions.
‘Also, the use of siren, revolving lights and cars with tinted windows by unauthorized citizens would not be permitted.
The Command equally warns all kinds of security outfits/organizations that are not constitutionally empowered to carry out an election duty to steer clear of all the stages of the election process.
Any organization/groups found flouting this warning will be sanctioned in accordance with the extant laws.
In the same vein, the following are the distress call numbers/help lines to call during the period of elections: Osun Police Control room numbers: 08039537995/08075872433/08123823981, PPRO: 08067788119, Area Commanders numbers: Osogbo-08033097332, Ile-Ife-08033579363, Ilesa-08035426391, Iwo-08142576390, Ibokun-08035777715, Ikirun-08067956212, Ila-08065876188 and Ikire-08034079643’ the statement said- Team@orientactualmags.com
