General Olufemi Oluyede Survives The Axe As President Tinubu Sacks Service Chiefs Days After Coup Rumours

All the service chiefs have gotten the axe with the solitary exception of General Olufemi Oluyede, who was until his elevation to a higher position on Friday, the Chief of Army Staff.

Interestingly, Oluyede had replaced late Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja as Army Chief in November last year.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that President Bola Tinubu, who announced the decision to fire the former service chiefs and appoint new ones in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Mr Sunday Dare on Friday, noted that this was ‘in furtherance of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to strengthen the national security architecture’.

‘The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke is Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff. Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position.

The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expresses most profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership’ the statement added.

The president has also urged the new Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by further enhancing the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

The former service chiefs have gotten the axe a few days after rumors of an alleged failed coup spread on social media-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
