Gov Abdulrasaq Emphasizes Role Of Religious, Community Leaders In Tackling Insecurity
Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has submitted that religious and community leaders must play an important role when it comes to ending insecurity in the country.
He urged religious and community leaders in the country to enlighten the people, especially the young people in respect of the dangers of engaging in criminalities, including cultism, drug abuse and kidnapping.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned the governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Strategy, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, said this during the security interactive forum organized by the Kwara State Community Policing, Gambari district, Ilorin, Kwara state.
He blamed criminal activities including cultism and drug abuse among the young people on the nonchalant attitude on the part of the parents with regard to imparting sound moral education to their children and wards.
The governor added that his administration has invested a lot of resources in the security architecture of the state while calling on religious and community leaders to complement government’s efforts by curbing thuggery and all criminal activities in their respective communities.
He urged traditional rulers and elders in Ilorin Emirate and the state as a whole to replicate the security programme initiated by the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin which has enjoyed the support of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim- Sulu Gambari.
Chairman of the Community Policing, Gambari district, Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf said the event was organized to complement the efforts of the state government in the fight against crimes and to serve as a platform for the people of the community to get updated on how to make the society free of all forms of criminality and anti-social behaviours.
Yusuf also commended the security agencies in the state for their support for the group.
The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants progressive Union( IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Otta- Uthman also emphasized the need for parents to monitor their children and show interest in the friendship they keep.
