Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Tuesday mourned the victims of banditry in two communities in Kaiama local government while calling it ‘cowardly attack’.
Kaiama is in the northern part of Kwara State.
The governor said he was saddened by the ‘cowardly attack’ on civilians in Woro and Nuku communities, Kaiama local government adding that ‘it is a cowardly expression of frustration by terrorist cells following the ongoing counterterrorism campaigns in parts of the state and the successes so far recorded’.
Governor AbdulRazaq in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye noted that the attack launched on the two communities in question on Tuesday was apparently to ‘distract the security forces’ who have successfully ‘hunted down’ several terrorist and kidnapping gangs across many parts of the state.
‘The governor expresses heartfelt condolences to Woro and Nuku communities on the sad incident, especially the families affected in the Tuesday attack’ the statement added.
While an unconfirmed report said 10 people were killed, the Government House, Ilorin statement did not provide or touch on the casualty figures.
