Gov Abdulrazaq Not Responsible For Delay In Conducting LG Elections-Ojoku Monarch

Gov Abdulrazaq Not Responsible For Delay In Conducting LG Elections-Ojoku Monarch

As citizens and residents of the State of Harmony await the outcome of  the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections held in Kwara state on Saturday, Olojoku of Ojoku, Oyun local government, Oba Abdul Rasaq Adegboyega Afolabi  has urged the winners to be magnanimous in victory while the losers should also not do anything that will amount to instigation of violence.

The Olojoku in an interview with Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the nation’s constitution has created an opportunity for the people to make a decision on who occupies elective position at any level every four years.

Oba Abdul Rasaq Adegboyega Afolabi

‘My sincere advice is that  in any  race or contest ,there must be a winner and a loser, elections will come and go and we should be reasonable not to cause any problem  or  instigate violence, those that would be declared as winners should have a very large heart to manage and accommodate  the losers.

The losers should know that it is not the end of the game  or the end of life, you can return to  the field in  four years’ time  if you lose today, you are likely to win tomorrow .

My advice is that let there be peace  once there is peace there will be progress and development .

As a traditional ruler, I will advise whoever wins the guber election to see it as what God has ordained .

Only God can actualize dreams , whoever wins  should accommodate the losers , Kwara state belongs to all of us once you know this , you will know that it is important to be magnanimous and carry everybody along.  You will form an all-inclusive government  to make everybody happy’ he said.

Oba Olojoku  also said it would be unfair to blame the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration for  not conducting local government elections   since 2019 citing  what he called  ‘defensible reason’.

‘Let me correct certain impressions and set the record straight,  Iam not a politician, but  members of Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWAISEC) were appointed by the  former administration a few days before leaving  it is not easy that the current administration will allow them to conduct  the local government elections , let us face reality. at the point of leaving the office  you now appointed members of the state electoral commission  and they are supposed to have a five-year term.

As a former local government worker, NULGE Chairman, NLC Chairman, Iam saying it authoritatively that it is not easy for any governor to use such a group of people for  the local government elections  and that is why no local government elections have been held since 2019, if the governor  wins re-election, he will just find a way to manage them and let them go away.

In my capacity as Olojoku of Ojoku, I will not blame the governor for not conducting local government elections’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
